BOYCOTT THE
NEW YORK POST - Don't accept "lame" apology
This cartoon appeared on February
18, 2009 and was done by Sean Delones.
We have to take a stand! We have to make these
incidents stop! Anyone in their right mind knows this was blatantly a
reference to President Obama, considering Obama is the author of the
stimulus bill.
It's time-out for lame apologizes AFTER people have boycotted in the
streets. If you are outraged it's time to step up and boycott the N.Y. Post.
People have got to stop standing on Freedom of Speech and start
being held accountable! Our President and First Lady deserve
RESPECT!
Let them
know we will no longer tolerate this behavior and that a
half-hearted apology is just not enough! Their online comments
section
has been dismantled, I'm sure due to overtaxing of the server.
Al Sharpton responds:
"The cartoon in today's New York Post is troubling at best given the
historic racist attacks of African-Americans as being synonymous
with monkeys. One has to question whether the cartoonist is making a
less than casual reference to this when in the cartoon they have
police saying after shooting a chimpanzee that "Now they will have
to find someone else to write the stimulus bill."
"Being that the stimulus bill has been the first legislative victory
of President Barack Obama (the first African American president) and
has become synonymous with him it is not a reach to wonder are they
inferring that a monkey wrote the last bill?"
Col Allan who is the Editor of the NY Post gave a statement:
The cartoon is a
clear parody of a current news event, to wit the shooting of a
violent chimpanzee in Connecticut. It broadly mocks Washington's
efforts to revive the economy. Again, Al Sharpton reveals himself as
nothing more than a publicity opportunist."
